Explore China’s Tech.
See the World Differently.

Tech China Trek is not just a trip to China. It’s a curated family learning experience inside one of the world’s most dynamic technology ecosystems.

Meet the companies. Experience the tech. Learn together.

Five days and four nights in Beijing — humanoid robots, driverless taxis, smart factories — for kids ages 10–18 and their parents.

🎓 Congratulations to the graduates of our sold-out July pilot cohorts — 49 trekkers (26 children and 23 adults) from 19 families across 6 countries.
One flat price — adults & kids: Early Bird US$1,999 · Standard US$2,599
Why Now

Why Beijing? Tomorrow's tech is daily life there.

In Beijing, driverless taxis are just taxis and robots deliver lunch. In three packed days your child sees, rides, and tries the technology most kids only read about.

What kids did on the July trek

Every one of these happened on the July 2026 treks:

🚕“We rode through Beijing in taxis with no drivers — verdict: 'that was so cool.'”
🤖“I programmed a humanoid robot with a tablet — and another one danced for us.”
🏯“I climbed the Great Wall with an AI-powered exoskeleton helping me up.”
☕“A coffee robot printed my face onto the foam. The parents loved it more than we did.”
🍦“At lunch, robots cooked the dishes, made ice cream, and mixed the drinks.”
📦“I walked through JD's ‘Asia No. 1’ warehouse — machines moving millions of packages.”

Beijing’s robot future, through a teenager’s eyes

A teenage trekker from California made this short film himself — his footage, his edit. Everything above happened on the trek; this is what it looked like from a kid’s point of view.

Parents Ask Us

FAQ

Dates & Program
Which cohort should we pick?

All three run the identical program at the identical price — pick the window that fits your school calendar. Dec 2–6 and Dec 9–13 are timed for Asia-Pacific school holiday periods. Dec 27–31 is the Christmas–New Year week, popular with families from India and everywhere else.

How is the trek structured?

Arrive on Day 1 afternoon and join the welcome dinner plus a briefing lecture on China's tech landscape and the companies you'll visit. Days 2–4 are full visit days — 3.5 days of programming in all. You stay 4 nights and fly home on Day 5. Airport pickup is provided on Day 1 only (early arrivals arrange their own transfer), there is no airport drop-off, and a group bus runs on all program days.

Is a 5-day trek really enough?

By design. The briefing-first format means zero orientation drag — every visit day is dense with signal. It fits inside a school holiday, costs less than a week-long program, and leaves your family wanting more rather than exhausted. Families who want to extend can add their own days in China before or after.

What exactly will we visit?

Visits are drawn from frontier tech themes: robotics & humanoids, autonomous driving, smart manufacturing, and consumer tech. Each cohort's final lineup is confirmed before departure — access depends on company availability, and any substitution is of equal or greater value.

What happens on the free evenings?

Day 2 and Day 3 evenings (including dinner) are yours to explore Beijing — night markets, robot restaurants, tech-spotting walks. We share our favorite recommendations with every cohort.

Language & Logistics
Is Mandarin ability required or recommended?

No. Mandarin proficiency is neither required nor recommended. All core programming will be in English communication, or bilingual and interpreted as needed.

Do participants need a Chinese visa?

Each participant needs a valid passport and should confirm their own visa requirements — many nationalities currently enjoy visa-free entry or transit to China for short stays. If you need a tourist (L) visa, applications open about 3 months before departure: from Sept 2 / 9 / 27 for the December cohorts. See our visa guide — around 50 countries (including Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia) currently enter China visa-free.

Do I need to pay before my China visa is approved?

No. Participants who require a China visa do not need to pay any deposit or program fee before their visa is approved. Once your visa is approved, simply complete the full payment to confirm your registration.

Do you recommend carrying translation devices?

It is up to you. There are quite many translation devices available for real-time translation, including earbuds, headsets, glasses, and watches. Some notable brand options include Anker Soundcore, Timekettle, and iTourTranslator. Please note that these are friendly suggestions only. We do not endorse any specific brand or model and assume no liability for any issues regarding these devices.

Can we get vegetarian food in China?

Yes, vegetarian food is readily available in China. Vegetarians can typically enjoy Chinese vegetarian dishes if they confirm the absence of pork ingredients with waiters or chefs in most Chinese restaurants. In addition, in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai, dedicated vegan restaurants and Indian restaurants are also available.

Participants & Pricing
What age range is this designed for?

Ages 10–18 at the time of the program, traveling with a parent or chaperone. Built for middle and high schoolers who are genuinely curious about technology — no prior technical background required.

Are chaperones required?

Yes — every minor participant must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult chaperone for the full duration of the program. One adult can accompany up to three minors. Chaperones participate in all program activities alongside the kids.

Why is the price the same for adults and kids?

Everyone on the trek gets the same experience — the same visits, meals, hotel, and guides — so everyone pays the same flat rate: US$1,999 Early Bird or US$2,599 Standard, in every cohort. It also makes family budgeting simple: multiply by your headcount, done.

What are the key payment deadlines?

Dec 2 & 9 cohorts: Early Bird ends Oct 30, full payment due Nov 10. Dec 27 cohort: Early Bird ends Nov 10, full payment due Nov 20. Visa-exempt participants hold their spot with a US$500 deposit; participants who need a China visa pay nothing until their visa is approved, then pay in full. No payment is collected through the form — we invoice you.

What is the refund policy?

Deposits are refundable within 7 days of payment (minus transaction fees). Cancellations before your cohort's deadline — Nov 10 for the Dec 2 & 9 cohorts, Nov 20 for the Dec 27 cohort — receive 50% back on amounts paid beyond any deposit. No refunds after the deadline.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes — comprehensive travel, medical, and medical evacuation coverage is required for all participants. This is your responsibility to arrange before departure. We strongly recommend purchasing it as soon as you register.

Have you run this before?

Yes. Both July 2026 pilot cohorts sold out — 49 trekkers (26 children and 23 adults) across 19 families from 6 countries (U.S., India, Singapore, Hong Kong, U.K., Philippines) went through Beijing's tech ecosystem with us, building on years of investor and executive trips led by our team. The December treks distill that program into a school-holiday-sized 4 nights.

What if none of the current dates work?

Families can fill out our interest form with their preferred windows. Schools, clubs, parent communities, and organizations bringing an existing group can request a private program.

For Organizations

Bring 20+ paid travelers. Request your own dates.
